Elder Kaden Keller has been called to serve...

July was full of excitement around the Keller house. Kaden sent off his papers, received the melchezdik preisthood, ordained one of his friends to the aronic preisthood, and moved out.

Kyra went to girls camp, practiced hard and long hours for soccer, and worked this summer as a maid at a local hotel.  She made lots of $ to pay for all her school clothes etc. She made the soccer team but isn't exactly on JV or Varsity she may play either. However we kinda wish and hope it will be just varsity, the running a lot kills her scoliosis.

Klint works and works so much that we don't really see him a lot. He is facing having another back surgery. The artificial disk in his back is causing more trouble than it's worth. So his pain has been excrutiating. We are trying to get things worked out for him to have the surgery needed to help fix the problem.

As for me I am sad and hapy to be going back to work soon. I have tried to keep busy all summer but haven't always felt like I am doing enough. There are several changes in teachers at my school this year so it will be interesting to see where I end up. I think next summer though I will apply to be a maid like Kyra did. It will keep me busy and help pay bills.

So when Kaden was a little boy it was important to my Klint and I that Kaden choose if he wanted to go on a mission as soo many of our friends and people we knew went for their [arents or for some bribe. Kaden has chosen to serve the Lord for 2 years. We have always known he will be a fantastic missionary. he is easy to talk to has a good spirit about him and knows that the gospel is true. When he was growing up we always thought he would go to the polynesian islands. I don't know why we just did. Patially because they have big hearts there. However it's not up to us.

The Lord has chosen .......Fort worth Texas for Kaden to serve  a 2 year mission. He will be going to the MTC on Nov. 2. Along with his cousin Jake who is going to Billing Montana. Kaden will be learning Spanish while there. I know this is where the Lord want him and he will do great things. A woman in our ward calls him Elder Cowboy. She says those cowboys have big hearts and so do you. I know he is meant to be there.

Hot Hot hot!

Graduation and then some..

I really thought I would be a mess for some reason when Kaden graduated but instead I beamed with smiles. It was such a wonderful day. Not only was Kaden graduating but many of the kids he went to school with I have had the joy of working with and love so many of them.
Kaden has had a busy month, he graduated seminary, ran every weekend and by the way our boys track took 2nd at state! graduated high school received some awards etc and is preparing to put in his mission papers. I am sure I am leaving out a lot of the stuff but you get the idea.

Klint and I have been hiking for the past couple of weekends. This tree is a mini example of the many that had fallen on our first hike. We had to climb over and under and over and under. There were trees every foot or so it was crazy!
I had a summer to do list a mile long and boy did I get to it that first week off. I would like to get a job but not having the best of luck finding one at the moment. Kaden has a 2nd job he works with a 9 year old boy that is living with a condition similar to cerebral palsy his name is Hyrum. Kyra is working at a local hotel cleaning. THey are both busy busy, Kyra has also been busy with soccer they played in the summer games and are currently at suu soccer camp she plays 4 games a day for a week give or take. Exhaustion!
Kaden is busy working and preparing papers appt. and interviews to go on a mission. It isn't just fill out papers and go. Klint has had some luck with Dr. # ? he discovered he has arthritis in his hip and hardly any cartilige there so we are working on getting that better and then seeing about the back with a cat scan and then go from there. did I mention this DR is in California. He saw him once and then after all these tests he may go back we will see.
I found an amazing taffy recipe at skiptomylou.org and can I say it is addictive. I love this recipe I have never made such perfect taffy. Well summer has been busy and full of great things so far. I have left out a few things like Grad night Kaden's Lake Powell trip Jean moving in and moving out and probably a few more things but I think this is enough of an update for now. Always know there is more.

Quick update

I am feeling so bad that I haven't updated in a long time. Life has been interesting and full of chaos. About a month ago Klint's mom moved in with us. Yes, I mean full on move in furniture and all. At the time she moved in she was in a bit of a fog, however she is feeling much better and so as of yet things are on a we'll see status. But for now she is here.

That isn't all I have been helping with Grad night and raising $. Kaden has been busily running track our boys took 2nd in state over all for 3a.Oh and did i mention he is also graduating this Fri.

Kyra has also been busy running and jumping for track. She also just got the most outstanding girl sophmore math student. Take that 6th grade math teacher.

Klint ,well Klint has spent the year trying everything to get his failed back surgery to feel better. No luck. We have found a Dr. in Cali. that migh be able to help. SO far this will be DR. # Oh heck I forget something like 6. Klint also was just released from his calling with the deacons, he has been in young mens for about 6 years or more. he is now in the Elders Quorum he is the 2nd Counselor.

All in all everyday here has been full of something. Did I mention we had a fabulous mother daughter spring fling light dinner activity for my 16 act. day girls. It was fun. the other day I took a stress test in a magazine. It said I had too much going on. Hmmm. maybe it's time for a nice summer vacation. Ya I think that will help rejuevenate my mind. I have a summer to do list that 3 months will just about fill.

One last update. For those of you wondering what Kaden's plans are now that his required 5 days a week for 12 + years of school are over. He turns 19 on Sept 8th, and is preparing to turn in  his papers to serve a mission. So for the next 2 years he will be somewhere out there knocking on doors and being led by Father in Heaven to bring a message to those who are willing to listen. After that well he plans on going to Weber.

More to come after we get through Grad Night.

sunday yumm!

It seems like a weekend doesn't go by without a little baking around here. It warms our home and soothes my soul. Today I found a recipe at kingarthurflour.com for english muffins. I saw them on a blog made with wheat flour and decided it was worth a try.

Homemade Wheat English muffins

The once little now large gremlins that live here love to eat english muffins. So the task began quite easily I must say. I didn't read their whole recipe I was looking at the blog recipe and not the king arthur one. It wasn't until I was done mixing the batter I realized I could have used the bread machine. While the dough raised I started to feel pretty darn brave and decided to try a sourdough starter. Can't say I am having good luck with that one, it is currently taking over. Maybe I should cover the starter before it takes over the counter?

Mad sourdough starter.
I also made my favorite thing to make over the weekend Granola. Klint and I eat enough granola that I make it once a week. The kids think its gross. I remember those days I thought granola was for "old" people. I am proud to say I am one of those "old" people now. Today I tried making granola with applesauce instead of oil. I think it was lacking a special sweetness.
How do you eat your granola? I like greek yogurt and blueberries.

Fun with signs

So this is my newest experiment. I am thinking about printing this and then modge podgeing it onto a board so it looks like a canvas and raising the K & J. Cheap graphic pop art. I hope the size shows up well here.

So I have decided to post at least once a week. Best laid plans and all. Just when I think I have this camera thing mastered I am quickly stumped so just know I am trying.  I have several things that I have made that I will probably try to get on here just for the fun of it. Yes, I will also still post the ongoings of our little fam.

This past week Kyra has been seeing a chiropractor for her back. She has scoliosis. It has gotten worse. She went from a 12% to a 15% curve in 2 years. We are hoping to get her some relief.

This is what my cousin and I spent our afternoon doing yesterday. I am soo relieved that I was able to get this on here. I am not sure if these are the photos I will use for letters just testing it out right now.  Next I will be doing one that says Klint & Jeanna in an unusual way. My camera however is about to give up any life it might have had. It is unable to focus at times and just plain shody.
