Halloween is coming!

Halloween is coming and we here love the holiday. It is so much fun to get dressed up and scare kids. Mwaahahaha!

Amber, my cousin, and I went to a witches night out costume contest. When we arrived we thought we had it in the bag. There were not very many other witches. We both had worked hard on our costumes. We were shocked to find that we had won nothing we didn't win any of the 6 or so categories. I am thinking this is a lot like my life right now I work hard and sometimes don't win. I guess it's not always the reward but the journey and the joy you feel in the moment.

FAll this year is bitter sweet. Kaden will be playing his last High School football game this week and I can hardly stand it. I look forward to the new experiences in his life but I have enjoyed the past 13 years of cheering him on in sports. We love being parents and have enjoyed every second good or bad of our kids lives. As they reach adulthood we can only hope and pray that their future will be as amazing as their childhood and the world will be good to them.

Momma said there'd be days like this!

2 weeks before school starts most families go school shopping. Sports have started so kids are going in and out all day and life begins to get a little more chaotic. At our house life shifted in twilight zone. It all started at 3a.m. on Wed. Mali one of our dogs woke Klint up to be let out nothing new. maggies in heat and is an escape artist so we have had to put her on a chain to keep her from running away. Klint decided he would just let her loose and he would stay out and keep an eye on her. All was normal until Mali darted for a corner of the yard taking Maggie and Ted (the blind one) with. Within seconds Klint was yelling and throwing rocks. Only to have the damage done.  A dreadful heinous skunk had already sprayed not once but we believe twice. I awoke to the dogs barking and went to let them in thinkin that Klint was in the bathroom. I quickly opened the door and in ran the dogs. Maggies Mali and Ted. They all quickly ran to there favorite spot our bed and Kadens bed and tried to rub off the skunk. In a dazed and confused sleep stupor I quickly realized I wasn't getting any more sleep. Kaden ran out drove to the school to sleep. Kyra went downstairs which didn't last long for the smell soon found her. It was awful. Upon my first exams of the 3 I could see the greenish yellow oil left behind. It was so strong that even my sense of smell and taste were off for days.
WE spent hours cleaning the dogs and getting the bedding off the beds and trying to fingd the strong spots in the house. Klint left for work kidds went to sports and everywhere we went so did the smell. Aughhhh!!!! talk anout sad! I got a hotel for 2 night so we could breath. Klint brought home a large fan so we could air out the house. The carpets were cleaned the walls were cleaned the wood floor cleaned the beds steamed the bedding washed all in all a real good scrub down. Klint also changed the airfilter. It took days to get out of the house and many candles. Funny when we got to the hotel clothes that were in our drawers smelled my make-up bag smelled it was everywhere. Neighbors and family said they had never smelled it soo strong. So today the dogs smell a bit. Mali who took the most spray got a burn from the oil. I am hoping for a new purse and a new make-up bag. Had to throw out my bedspread and some old blankets and 2 sleeping bags. Kyras coach gave her a socce rshirt to put on over hers because she smelled so bad. Kaden went to 5 min of weights the first day because he smelled. Klint stunk to all high heck at work. I had to have Amber do some shopping for me. ALl in all it was the worst 3 days ever I cried  a lot thought of gettin grid of all the dogs except Topanga since she was smart enough to stay away. Dogs I just don't know if they're worth it. Maybe ask me in a month.

summer project!

So this summer we decided to add to the back yard a bit. We want a little water feature and a fire pit wood burning of course. This is the spot. I figured I would do most of the work on my own. You can kinda tell that I have started to level a spot for a fire pit and made some marks. I tried to get to a comfortable spot to leave it for 6 weeks as thats how long I will be recovering from my surgery. I of course hit a major large rock. Halting any and all plans till further notice.

Then came the last possible weekend for me to work on the yard and i was headed to state tracck to watch Kaden run. Klint said he had to work some thing at costco. I left with no thought of the back yard. This is what I came home to a trench dug for the water feature a flattened area for the firepit the drive way dug down a little bit more and flattened a bit. Klint really didn't go to the costco thing. The big rock in front of the now enormous pile is the one I hit. No chance I coulda done it all on my own. Hopefully by the end of my summer break I will be roasting marshmallows and listening to the trickle of water.

SpRiNg

Finally the snow is melting! However within 24 hrs of me seeing my front lawn for the first time in 4 months it snowed yet again. I can't believe it has been almost 2 months since I last posted anything and still no new pictures.

We haven't really had a lot of new stuff happening. however Kaden did successfully get to Washington D.C. and back. He had a great time towards the end. They did a lot of work in a workbook. He really enjoyed meeting other young men and women from all over the country. They were able to visit most of the Nations tourist sites. He really enjoyed the library. However his 3.89 gpa has taken a hit somewhat due to his trip. I wish teachers were a little more proactive then noactive. O well. Kaden was recently nominated to be vice-pres. for his senior year. He sure has a lot going on with sports and school. I am glad I don't have that stress on me. It's so hard to watch kids succeed these days it just keeps getting harder and harder.

Kyra is now 15 and able to drive! She doesn't get out with me ever. She drives with Klint there's just less yelling that way. She is running track this year they have her trying hurdles and the high jump. We are all a little nervous for her. Her knees are already bunged up from the hurdles. She is in great shape now and hopefully it will stay that way for soccer her tru fav. sport.

Klint you ask what is he up to? Hmmm...... well one word sums it up WORK! He leaves here at 6 am and comes home at 8-9pm sometimes later. He had been gone almost every weekend for scouts or work. Having fun most of the time. He spent 2 weekends snowmobiling for work. And 2 or so weekends running around with the scouts to Bryce snowshoeing etc. He doesn't even get paid extra for working longer hours. He's gone a lot! :(

As for me well I have been in a funk. ( to say the least) with Klints long hours and the kids busy lives I have been alone a lot. The weather has sucked and I have just been bitter. Luckily the weather is changing and hopefully my sadness and bitterness will too.

I realize I keep saying pictures will come so just know it is my every intention to post pictures.(someday)

Where does time go?

I always intend to update my blog show fabulous pictures of "the latest" and greatest ongoings and yet time just gets in my way. So I am making a quick update with pictures to hopefully follow as I am on the hubbies laptop. Deep Breath inhale and well here it goes. So a few weeks ago I made my first shirt. Just a simple knit shirt using a blog called makeitandloveit.blogspot.com. My first shirt turned out great I made 2 more they were fab. Then I washed them 2 washed fine one shrinks everytime I wash it. Loved the whole thing so much I have ideas for a few more. Next time I will prewash fabric. The knit when walmart gets it in is $2 can't go wrong there. However @johanns its like $13 not a bargain.

Kaden competed in Mr. CV Jan. 23. It was a blast. The boys danced, answered a question based on a statement they chose. Dressed up in "career wear" and performed a talent. They were so funny one boy wore a ping pong uniform which consisted of short short and a tank top. I almost forgot evening wear. Kaden lipsynced a song that I can't remember. Their question was why do you want to be Mr. CV Kaden said " to build a school for kids who want to learn to read and write and other stuff like that" It's a quote from Zoo lander. He ended up winning CONGRATS!

Kyra will be driving soon so beware if you are on the road in Utah. Just kidding she is a good driver. Feb. is going to be crazy Kaden is taking the ACT and going to D.C., Kyra turns 15. Klint is busy with work meetings and going to Bryce with the young men. Did I mention Klint went on a campout last night? The boys slept in a snow cave. Klint is tooo claustrophobic so he slept in the truck. Luckily his bed has a cover. He was ok.

As for me I am still working at CVMS still in primary and well lonely. Klint works till 8 or 9 at night and the kids are always going somewhere and well I am home. On Sunday I spend my time with kids and so goes my everyday. Somehow I need to find a bookclub or a bonco club or something because I am one dog away from becoming the crazy dog lady. We currently have 4 at our house. We have had my cousin Amber's dog Maggie for a month now she is cute and sweet . But 4 is well a lot. Hopefully pictures will follow soon probably in mass.

National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security

It is our understanding that Kaden will be going on a 6 day trip to Washington D.C. to participate in NYLF. From looking at the sample itinerary he will be attending meetings on foreign affairs, poilcies, security and much more. They will take part in group meetings with heads of many places such as; Andrews airforce base, U.S. secret service, Pentagon, and the CIA. Some of the past speakers have been General Peter Pace, USMC, THe honorable Richard armitage, Deputy Secretary of State, The honorable Chuck Hagel(R-NE) with Foreign relations committee just to name a few. We are so excited to send him and scared to death at the same time. Our little boy isn't so little anymore. He will be going in Feb. 2010. Thanks for all your support. Go to nylf.org/ns to get the best info. Thanks Suzy Hodson for recommending Kaden this is a ionce in a life time opportunity he is seizing.
